A flagged serial can stop a deal faster than a cracked screen can. Shops often grab the serial or IMEI number first, then pause. That number ties the device to police reports, insurance claims, and stolen-goods lists. The counter isn't doing it to be difficult. How long the check takes?
A quick check is thirty seconds when the phone is charged and unlocked. A slow check drags ten minutes or more if the device is dead, locked, or the serial is faded from the box.
