Northwest Coast Hand Carved Sterling Silver Eagle Cuff Bracelet Signed

In Northwest Coast tradition the Eagle is the master of the skies, the creature held to be closest to the Creator. It soars higher than any other bird, carrying prayers upward and moving between the physical world and the spirit world. The Eagle stands for focus, strength, peace, leadership, and the highest prestige, and its wide wings speak to the balance between all things that must work together in harmony. To wear the Eagle is to carry that vision.

This substantial cuff is hand-carved in sterling silver, the Eagle rendered in deep formline relief across the full width of the band. A bold ovoid eye anchors the central face; the recurved beak curls down and back as split-U feather and wing forms open to either side, set over a finely cross-hatched ground with engraved border rails. The depth and variation of the carving are the mark of true hand work, not casting or stamping. Inside the band are the artist's maker's mark and the engraved design title, Eagle For Stars.

Crest figures in Northwest Coast art carry meanings that vary by nation, clan, and family; this describes the Eagle in general cultural terms.
