Larrivée L-03-12 12-String Acoustic (Made in Canada) + Original Hardshell Case — Excellent Condition
That wide, chiming 12-string shimmer—clear, balanced, and built with the kind of wood selection that keeps opening up over time.
This Jean Larrivée L-03-12 is a Canadian-built, all-solid 12-string based on Larrivée’s versatile L-body platform, offering excellent projection without the oversized feel of a dreadnought. It delivers strong fundamentals, rich harmonic spread, and impressive note separation.
A former Larrivée luthier has inspected this guitar and confirmed several details. This is an older Canadian example with exceptionally good wood selection, including mahogany back and sides (a smart tonal choice for a 12-string, favoring clarity and control over boom). The spruce top shows tight, even grain, typical of early-2000s builds, and is still resonating freely, indicating a top that has opened up naturally with age.
The soundhole rosette style matches what later appeared on L-02/L-02-style instruments, further supporting this as an earlier build from a transitional era in Larrivée’s Canadian production.
Condition
Excellent overall condition, especially for a 12-string of this age.
Very light cosmetic signs of honest play only
Neck finish has naturally polished to a light gloss from playing (originally satin—this is normal and expected)
Very minimal fret wear; frets are in great shape
Luthier notes it could benefit from minor fretwire cleanup only (no refret or major work needed)
No cracks, breaks, or structural issues noted
Top remains lively and responsive

Why This One Stands Out
Mahogany back & sides = cleaner, more controlled 12-string response (excellent for recording)
Tight-grain spruce top from an earlier Canadian build era—still opening up and resonant
Balanced L-body shape avoids the boominess common in large 12-strings
Wide nut makes fretting more comfortable than many 12-string designs
Inspected by a former Larrivée builder, with no structural concerns noted
Classic Canadian Larrivée craftsmanship
FAQs
Does it have electronics or a pickup?
No—this is a pure acoustic setup.
Any cracks, repairs, or major fret wear?
No. Very light fret wear only; frets remain in great shape and play cleanly.
What strings does it take?
Standard 12-string acoustic sets (light to medium, depending on player preference).
Is the glossy neck original?
It started satin—the gloss is from natural play wear, which is normal and common on well-loved Larrivées.
